What is AmberCare?
AmberCare is a first-of-its-kind service agreement that supplements and extends the great warranty coverage you get from the manufacturer when you buy your EV.

AmberCare covers the costs of labor, parts, and even substitute transportation in the event of a covered repair. For example, if your EV's high-voltage battery no longer is covered by the manufacturer's warranty, AmberCare can cover the costs of repair or replacement.
How does AmberCare work?
If your vehicle experiences a covered breakdown or malfunction, you can take it to any Tesla Service Center or Authorized Repair Facility. Amber will either pay the service provider directly or reimburse you for the covered costs, minus your deductible.

Similar to other popular subscription services, your AmberCare agreement will auto-renew each month until you decide to cancel.
Do AmberCare have a financial backer?
Yes, AmberCare plans are backed by an AM Best A-rated insurance carrier.
How is AmberCare different from auto insurance?
Your auto insurance plan covers you against financial loss in the event of an accident of theft. Examples of popular auto insurance programs include Tesla Insurance, GEICO, Progressive, State Farm and Nationwide.

AmberCare covers you against repair costs in the event of vehicle breakdown or malfunction and is supplementary to your EV's manufacturer's warranty.

AmberCare Coverage

What does AmberCare cover?
Depending on the plan you select, AmberCare covers the cost to repair your Tesla's high-voltage battery, drive unit(s) and thousands of additional components.

In addition to covering parts and labor costs associated with the repair, AmberCare also reimburses you for the costs of towing and substitute transportation.
How does AmberCare compare with the Tesla ESA?
The Tesla ESA enables the original owner to extend the Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty by an additional 2 years or 25,000 miles. It can only be purchased while the vehicle is still under the 4-year or 50,000 mile coverage, and does not offer monthly payments.

AmberCare service agreements are available for any Tesla Model S, Model X, Model 3 or Model Y vehicles with fewer than 200,000 miles. Flexible payment options are available to suit your needs.

For a more detailed breakdown, we've put together a blog post comparing the two different products.

AmberCare Claims

How do I file a claim?
Filing a claim with us takes three steps:
1. Diagnosis: In the event of a breakdown, take your vehicle to an Authorized Repair Facility and get a diagnostic inspection. Send the diagnostic inspection and repair estimate to us at claims@getamber.com.
2. Repair Approval: In most cases, we get back to you within 24 hours with a decision on what's covered and approval to proceed with the repair.
3. Reimbursement: Once the repair is completed, email us the final invoice and Amber will either pay the service provider directly or reimburse you.
How do claim reimbursements work?
For approved claims, we pay for the approved amount minus your deductible.

By default, we will attempt to pay the service provider so that we can minimize your out-of-pocket expenses but if we are not able to do so, we will reimburse you directly.
How long does it take to process a claim?
We understand time is of the essence when your EV requires mechanical attention. In most cases you’ll receive a decision within 24 hours after you submit your claim.

AmberCare Benefits

Does AmberCare reimburse me for tows?
In the event of an Amber-covered breakdown, we reimburse you for the costs associated with towing your EV to the nearest Amber Authorized Repair Facility. The amount we reimburse depends on the AmberCare plan you have selected.

Let us know if you need help in finding a tow provider that supports EVs; otherwise you are free to contact the tow company of your choosing. Be sure to save all receipts associated with the tow and share them with us during your claims process for reimbursement.
Does AmberCare reimburse me for rentals or substitute transportation (e.g. Uber or Lyft)?
In the event of an Amber-covered breakdown, we will reimburse you for the costs associated with a rental vehicle, rideshare, or public transportation while your car is in the shop.

Please be sure to save all receipts and share them with us during the claims process for reimbursement.

Remote Diagnostics

What are remote diagnostics?
Remote diagnostics allow technicians and service providers to remotely review your EV's data and diagnose potential concerns, service issues, or operational faults without needing to see the vehicle in person.
What is the high-voltage battery in an EV?
The high-voltage battery is the core energy source of an electric vehicle (EV), much like a fuel tank in a traditional car—only instead of gasoline, it stores and delivers electricity.

These battery packs typically use lithium-ion technology, offering a balance of energy density, efficiency, and longevity. They supply power to the electric motor, which in turn propels the vehicle. Additionally, they support regenerative braking, which recovers energy when slowing down, helping extend the vehicle’s range.
What is the high-voltage system in an EV?
The high-voltage system in an electric vehicle (EV) acts as the nervous system, distributing energy efficiently from the traction battery to key components. This system includes high-voltage cables, inverters, converters, and safety mechanisms that ensure proper power flow to the electric motors, climate control system, and other high-energy-demanding functions.
What is the low-voltage system in an EV?
The low-voltage system in an electric vehicle (EV) is like the support system that keeps essential functions running smoothly. While the high-voltage (HV) system handles propulsion and other power-intensive tasks, the low-voltage system (typically 12V) manages everyday vehicle operations.
